Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center Auction

We had a great night March 14th, 2009 working for the Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center "Evening in the Park" event. It was an honor to work with my dad Gary and brother Noah, who both did a great job.  We were in charge of selling the items on the "Big Board" during the silent auction/mingling portion of the night. If you don't know what the big board is, it's like the "Price's Rite" where bidders come up and tell us which item they would like to bid on and where they would like to start the bid or up the current bid. We would then add or erase the lower bid and write in the new one.  At a specified time we have an open call for bids on each item in a live auction format. Some people like to bid early on the items and some like to wait until the live auction. I like this method as it gives people a good warm up to the live auction and it gives us auctioneers a starting price for each item.  It also gives us some time to warm up to the crowd and to really discribe what items we are selling and what the charity is all about.  I kind of felt like Bob Barker the whole night, I guess he is a Bobby B!  Great auction and turn-out, thanks to all the bidders and the Friends of the AZ Cancer Center having us back, looking forward to next year!
